Have I told you guys yet how much I am loving printed pants? They are one of those trends that I approve of 100% (neon is another story). I think they're so much more flattering and comfortable than the denim counterpart and I'm really holding myself back from buying a whole bunch of them. I have these polka dot pair, and the black and white floral pair from Target, but I'd love to also have a red pair, maybe this Old Navy pair or this Banana Republic pair.

I read somewhere once that only poor people wear the clothes they just bought right away. So rich people must either have a lot of clothes, or a lot of restraint because when I buy something new, I want to wear it right away, like my new shirt I just bought. I don't even wash most things (besides underwear and tank tops) before I wear them

...that's kind of gross actually.

So spill. Do you wash everything you buy right away, or do you wear it first? Do you have a closet full of clothes with the tags attached? Am I the only one who wants to wear a new purchase the next day?

frivolous

Yesterday morning I was running a little early so I stopped at Starbucks before work...and was so annoyed that it took 10 minutes to make me a simple iced drink. It feels so stupid now to think that the worst part of my day was having to wait for a stupid drink while small children were being killed in cold blood. It all seems so frivolous - the coffee drinks, the taking pictures of what I wore, the typing of what I wore, while there are parents who lost their babies that day for no reason. My heart aches for them, and I hope this forces our country to work on the diagnosing and treating of mental illness.

I was unsure how if I should even bring this up on my blog. Fashion blogging is about escape and inspiration and fun, and the horrible events that happened in Connecticut are none of those... but those little children and their teachers have been on my mind all day as I'm sure they've been on yours, so even though we will continue to live our lives and hold those we love closer, I couldn't not acknowledge their tragic and untimely deaths.

I could sparkle up your eye

The first time I saw Lana del Ray, it was on SNL and I had the same reaction I did when Robyn performed: who is this girl and why is she on my television. The swaying, the lips, the clothes...I just did not know what to do with her.

Now I know: her music is the perfect soundtrack for a rainy day. I can't stop listening.

How cute are these leaf bracelets? My mom is one of the most fashionable people I know, but not in the sense that she spends a lot of money on clothing. The best advice I ever received from her was to mix high end pieces with the more inexpensive items in your closet...which is why my Tiffany & Co bracelet looks right at home next to my F21 bangles.
