Bright

Months ago I discussed how I used to never wear much color - it was black, greys and maroons. While it made getting dressed every day easy, it was also boring. I've been making an effort to expand my closet with versatile pieces that bring a little life back into my closet. Since seeing this picture, I've  been itching to try more red and purple together. It's a bit bright, but it sure does shake up a gloomy Tuesday. 

Are there any color combinations you've been wanting to try?

Sir Mix-a-Little

I classify my style as pretty classic and although I mix it up sometimes, I try not to follow every trend. I don't like neon, peplum scares me, and you will never ever find me wearing ankle boots.

But pattern mixing...that I can do. I already have a long standing love affair with striped shirts, florals are slowly creeping in, and polka dots are pretty much here to stay. Plus pattern mixing involves no purchasing, just playing around with the clothes and accessories you already have - perfect for someone on a budget!

Leopard, in large format

I saw this post from Lilly's Style last week and although J.Crew is outside my normal clothing budget, I loved her shirt, I had a giftcard and it was on sale.

The shirt arrived in the mail on Monday and when I first put it on....I started cursing myself for buying something online at final sale. I love a leopard print in small doses, but an entire shirt? Breaking it up with a cardigan helped me overcome the "only in small portions" fear of leopard but I'm still unsure. What are your thoughts? Are animal prints reserved for belts and shoes, or welcome as entire pieces of clothing?
